SURG 452:
It includes orthopedics and traumatology and the curriculum has been completely renewed to match modern methods of teaching which are mostly based on learning through case studies. This course aims at graduating competent physicians capable of meeting the required local and international standards. The department delivers SURG 452 six times a year for four groups of male students and two groups of female students. Each phase lasts four weeks ending with a clinical exam, and upon completion of two phases, a written exam including multiple-choice questions is conducted for each two groups together. Each phase includes daily morning lectures covering trauma, acute conditions, emergencies and common chronic orthopedics conditions. Practical training sessions/tutorials are given on a daily basis in which students acquire specific clinical skills. There are also daily scientific seminars and clinical training on the examination of joints and spine in addition to student discussions on some conditions.
