The psychosomatic medicine unit offers a number of services for patients referred by physicians in other medical specialties. We receive referrals from all inpatient wards at KKUH from 7:30 am to 4:30 pm.

SCOPE OF SERVICE:
- The Psychosomatic Medicine (Consultation Liaison Psychiatry) Unit is comprised of specialized mental health teams who provide comprehensive mental health specialists’ assessment, feedback and brief intervention to adult patients in medical, surgical & obstetric units in the general hospitals belonging to King Saud University. The psychosomatic medicine team assists the medical staff by providing diagnostic, management and referral advices for their patients who are suffering from mental disorder or psychological distress.
- Provision of collaborative and integrative mental health care to primary and secondary out-patient medical and surgical populations particularly in psycho-oncology, psycho-nephrology, cardiac psychiatry, perinatal psychiatry, neuropsychiatry, transplant and bariatric surgery psychiatry, GI psychiatry and shared care family medicine.
- Education for undergraduate medical students & training for postgraduate psychiatry, neurology, emergency and internal medicine residents, as well as psychosomatic medicine fellowship training for certified general psychiatrists.
- Conduct research projects in the psychosomatic medicine field.
