Glaucoma & Cataract Subspecialty Fellowship Program
King Saud University hospitals holds a tertiary care patience in ophthalmology including glaucoma and cataract with high volume of patients in clinics and ophthalmic emergency room and s proud to launch King Saud University glaucoma and cataract subspecialty fellowship.
I.Institutions:
A. Sponsoring Department: Department of Ophthalmology
Written commitments of the following are attached:
- Commitment that the fellowship director has sufficient protected time for his educational and administrative responsibilities to the program.
- Commitment to education and research sufficient to support the fellowship program.
- Commitment to provide resources for fellow and faculty
- Notify the Postgraduate Department within 60 days of any change in institutional governance, affiliations, or resources that can affect the fellowship program.
- The fellowship will be established in Glaucoma and Cataract unit, Department of Ophthalmology. The units’ primary mission is part of the department missions including advancements in education, research and patient care.
B. Primary Training Site
The primary training sites will be King Abdul-Aziz University Hospital and King Khaled University Hospital.
II.Educational Program
A. Curriculum
Fellowship Objectives:
- To develop subspecialty expertise in the diagnosis and management of glaucoma including congenital, pediatric, juvenile and adult glaucomas both medical & surgically.
- To develop subspecialty expertise in handling routine and complex cataract, iris and angle procedures.
- To develop skills in medical education to colleagues, residents, interns and medical students.
