King Saud University Residency Board in Anatomical Pathology

The Department of Pathology Laboratory Medicine at King Khalid University Hospital is the first histopathology program in Saudi Arabia, established in 1986 The program offers a high quality postgraduate education for trainees The trainees will have extensive exposure to surgical pathology, cytopathology, dermatopathology, and renal pathology The resources available, including staff, equipment, and specimens, will be utilized for the training program The program is intended to provide well trained Pathologists for many medical laboratories The training program is structured to balance the technical and theoretical aspects of pathology and the interpretative skills, investigation, and management inherent in the modern practice of laboratory medicine The program's objective is to train residents to cope with international standards The degree a resident will obtain is equivalent to the MRCPath (UK) and FRCPA (Austuralsia) and both Royal Colleges recognize this program

The primary objective of the training is to acquire and refine skills that enable the trainee to function as a competent consultant, i.e., interpret submitted material as accurately as possible, utilizing, when appropriate, ancillary studies, and convey his / her opinions in a clear and concise manner.

The Anatomic Pathology KSU Fellowship program requires five years of full-time training, most of which will be undertaken at King Khalid University Hospital

Upon successful completion of the program, which requires a period of 5 years of full time postgraduate training and education, graduates will be
awarded a certificate "King Saud University board in Anatomical Pathology"
