The King Saud University Residency Board in Hematopathology and Blood Transfusion (formerly KSU Fellowship) was the first Hematopathology residency training program established in the Kingdom With a rich history spanning over three decades and a distinguished reputation, it has gained both national and international recognition A significant number of Saudi Hematopathologists many in high ranking positions, are proud graduates of this esteemed program
Our program is meticulously structured and continuously revised to ensure it remains at the forefront of delivering high quality training This rigorous approach equips residents with exceptional theoretical knowledge and technical skills, preparing them for roles in Hematopathology, blood bank services, and leadership positions in the rapidly expanding field of medical laboratories

Mission:
Our mission is to produce graduates who excel in

  1. Analytical, diagnostic, and interpretive aspects of Hematopathology and Blood Transfusion
  2. Technical and morphological skills required in Hematopathology
  3. Technical and administrative aspects essential for managing blood banks
  4. Leadership and management of medical laboratories, including operational efficiency, resource optimization, strategic planning, and regulatory adherence

This comprehensive five-year program offers longitudinal, integrated, and in depth training in Hematopathology and Transfusion Medicine,covering patients of all ages. Training locations include King Saud University Medical City and collaborative tertiary centers such as King Fahad Medical City, King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Center, Ministry of National Guard Health Affairs/King Abdulaziz Medical City, Prince Sultan Military Medical City,and Riyadh Central Blood Bank.
The entire training process is closely supervised by a representative committee of Hematopathologists

Graduates receive the prestigious King Saud University Residency Board in Hematopathology and Blood Transfusion certificate.
This degree holds full accreditation from the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (SCFHS), enabling physicians to register with SCFHS and attain the rank of Senior Registrar upon successful graduation. Additionally, this degree is recognized by FRCPath (UK) and FRCPA (Australia), making our trainees and graduates eligible to sit for their exams.
