Clinical social services:
Clinical Social Workers are vital members of the treatment teams in the Department of Psychiatry at King Khalid University Hospital. They are licensed mental health professionals trained to help people find solutions to a range of social problems that often accompany illness. Our social workers strive to help patients cope up with the overlapping aspects of their lives while they heal, using a combination of individual counseling, group and family therapy, and connection to hospital and community resources.
Our social workers are involved with patients in both inpatient and outpatient settings within their facilities. They also conduct assessment and management of patients’ marital, family and social problems.

To be a distinguished Clinical Social Worker Unit providing quality social care and education that has a positive impact on the health of our community and to contribute primarily to the practice of clinical social work all over Saudi Arabia.
MISSION
To help people help themselves, via clients’ care, mentoring, counseling, training, education, advocacy and to maintain best standards of social work practice in the country.

- Family Counselling

- Assist and support clients and their families
- Psycho-social education to clients/patients, families and community via direct contact as in lectures, awareness days, and media or in a non-direct contact utilizing procedures and handouts.
- Provide medical equipment’s and financial aid as needed.
FUNCTION OF CLINICAL SOCIAL WORKER UNIT INCLUDE:
- Community Psycho-social education
- Training of social worker and social worker interns.
