In congruent with the university’s vision and mission, the department is committed to providing an advanced learning environment for future ophthalmologists. We offer innovative and comprehensive training for both undergraduate and postgraduate students, with a strong emphasis on healthcare, education, research, and community service.

Historically, the postgraduate programs at the College of Medicine, King Saud University, was established in 1404 AH (1984 AD), starting with the Ophthalmology Diploma Program, which was later upgraded to a fellowship degree. Since that time, a number of general and subspecialties programs have been established.

‏A key priority of our department is to deliver safe and high-quality ophthalmological clinical services, addressing the growing demand for eye care in the Kingdom. Through prevention, early diagnosis, and effective management of various eye diseases, we strive to enhance patient outcomes. Our distinguished faculty, dedicated staff, and state-of-the-art facilities enable us to provide exceptional care and training.
