About Us
- Established in 1975 (1394 H), the Otolaryngology Department at King Saud University’s Faculty of Medicine is the oldest otolaryngology academic department in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Over the years, it has made significant strides, evolving in tandem with the nation’s growth to become one of the largest academic departments in the field.
- The department of Otolaryngology and Head and Neck surgery (ORL-HNS) is located at King Abdulaziz University Hospital. It is known to be one of the leading health care centers that provides patients’ care in Riyadh. It is part of the King Saud University Medical City, affiliated with King Saud University.
- The specialty of Otolaryngology is a diverse clinical discipline that deals with various disorders. In the past few decades, the specialty has grown in scope and depth, mainly fueled by the expansion of knowledge and advances in biomedical technology. This has resulted into the development of distinct sub-specialties including rhinology, otology, pediatric otolaryngology, Head and neck surgery, laryngology, and facial plastic surgery. Also, Communication & Swallowing Disorders and Audiology.
- Since its humble beginnings, the department has grown steadily in size and stature, expanding its scope and depth of services, and has contributed much to better patient care and medical education in this field. The department has full-time qualified staff that provide clinical services in all sub-specialties of Otolaryngology and Head and Neck Surgery. The department serves an active role in providing a distinguished wide array of clinical services, education, and research.
