Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Unit
About Us
The unit provides comprehensive services, including diagnostic evaluations and therapeutic interventions, in addition to specialized training programs in the field of child and adolescent psychiatry, starting from the age of three. The unit is staffed with a highly qualified team consisting of six consultant psychiatrists, four clinical psychologists, two specialists in learning disabilities and special education, and one speech and language therapist.
The unit also plays an active role in supervising the subspecialty fellowship program in child and adolescent psychiatry, contributing significantly to the development of professional competencies in this vital field.
The programs offered by the unit include:
1. Evaluation and diagnosis of psychological and developmental disorders (e.g., Autism Spectrum Disorder, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, language disorders, learning disabilities, anxiety and mood disorders, eating disorders, and others).
2. Individual and group behavioral therapy programs.
3. Family therapy programs.
4. Support programs for learning disabilities.
5. Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) management programs.
6. Mood disorder programs.
7. Anxiety disorder programs

Child and Adolescent Psychiatry unit Tasks
Clinical Services: Through (outpatient clinics, inpatient care, and collaborative psychiatric services with other departments).
Training: Contributing to training at all levels, including (general psychiatry residency, subspecialty fellowship in child and adolescent psychiatry, internship programs, clinical psychology trainees, and medical students).
Administrative Work: Collaborating with other units in the department to manage various projects and programs aimed at developing therapeutic and training services.
Research: Supporting and participating in research activities at the department, college, and medical city levels by engaging in and contributing to research groups.
Awareness and Education: Actively participating in awareness activities, including observing international mental health days, organizing awareness campaigns related to child and adolescent mental health, and providing direct educational programs for families and patients attending child and adolescent psychiatry clinics
