CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGY UNIT
Our Clinical Psychology Unit offers a wide range of psychological and psychiatric treatments for adults, adolescents, children and families in the hospital. To ensure that we deliver the highest standard of quality care to our patients, our treatment team is composed of a consultant psychiatrist, general psychiatry residents and psychologists who can provide initial evaluations, second opinions and ongoing treatment.

The Clinical Psychology Unit is committed in improving the lives of adult and children by providing them with quality mental health treatment in a safe, confidential, and therapeutic manner. Seeking mental health treatment empowers and encourages an individual to take an active role in their treatment and healing process. The unit also aims to be an exemplary provider of mental health services, and, at the same time, be an excellent employer to the staff.
SCOPE OF SERVICE
The clinical services of the unit are provided for all children, adolescent and adult outpatients and inpatients and their families based on protocol requirements or specific clinical referral questions generated by the referring psychiatrists and other departments in KKUH. Services include:
- Testing and assessment of patients and Psychotherapy
- Assessment and clinical evaluation.
- Psychotherapy modalities.
- Psychometric Evaluations.
- Education and Training program and clinical supervision
Referral for Psychology Services:
In order to manage referrals and serve patients effectively and appropriately, our department has implemented a specific criterion referral list to assist our psychiatrists in referring patients to proper services.
Outpatient Clinic:
The psychologist receives internal referrals from Primary Care, Pediatrics, Neurology or Psychiatry Units, particularly in:
- Psychometric Clinic (IQ Tests + Personality Assessment)
- Psychotherapeutic Clinic
- Follow up Clinic (Four clinics are assigned to each psychologist. Maximum booking of 4 new patients and 6 follow up)
In Patient Department:
The psychological services accept referrals from Psychiatric Wards and Liaison.
