•MASTERS PROGRAMME
•Our Masters Programme is a 2-year intensive course consisting of 12 taught modules/courses in the first year, and a hands-on laboratory research project in the second year.
•The main goal of the Programme is to help the students acquire new knowledge and experience in basic and clinical physiological research. The students will also receive training in transferable skills which would help prepare them their subsequent careers.
•By the end of the Programme, the students are expected to have acquired sufficient knowledge and basic understanding of the practical skills and techniques applicable to scientific research, as well as critical awareness and understanding of current issues and developments in the field of physiological sciences. These would enable them to pursue their ambitions and careers in one of the following:
•a) Enrolment in a PhD granting Programme
•b) Employment in a research laboratory in academia.

·To facilitate student learning of the basic physiological mechanisms underlying the normal functions of the peripheral and central nervous systems, from applied and practical viewpoints.
·To help students to develop basis understanding of the background of some practical neurophysiological tests such as EEG, EMG, nerve conduction, and evoked potentials (visual, auditory and somatosensory).

•Aims & Objectives:
·To help students develop an in-depth understanding of endocrinology including the pituitary hormones, mechanisms of biosynthesis and secretion of thyroid and parathyroid hormones, pancreatic hormones (insulin and glucagon), and adrenocorticotropic hormones.
·To help students to develop clear understanding of the male hormones and the female hormones during ovarian and menstrual cycles and physiology of pregnancy, and develop basic understanding of the common clinical diseases/conditions related to endocrine and reproductive systems.

·To understand the role of the kidney in fluid and electrolyte homeostasis, including acid-base balance and have some understanding of the pathophysiological mechanisms of renal diseases.

·To help students appreciate how basic neuroscience discoveries can be targeted to and/or applicable to understanding and treating neurodegenerative or neural disorders.
·To help students develop an in depth understanding of some motor system disorders (e.g. Parkinson's disease), regulatory system disorders (e.g. eating disorders) and behavioural and cognitive disorders (e.g. Stroke, Schizophrenia, Epilepsy, Alzheimer's disease, and Autism).
