Elective Unit
 About Us The Undergraduate Medical Electives Unit is an active academic unit under the purview of the department of Medical Education at the College of Medicine at King Saud University (KSU). The unit’s primary role is to facilitate clinical and research elective rotations for KSU’s medical students- both locally and internationally. KSU students must complete a mandatory elective rotation during their fifth year and are welcome to complete additional rotations at any stage in their schooling during their summer breaks if they choose to. As the College of Medicine continues to develop and implement the new curriculum, it seeks to provide students with opportunities to work in diverse environments in order to gain a deeper understanding of the relationships between physicians, other healthcare professionals, patients, and caregivers. By sharing experiences and learning from others, students become better physicians. |  |
 Vision |
| This course aims to further the clinical experience of fifth year students. It enables them opportunity to complete a clinical rotation in a specialty of their choosing. In doing so, they gain deeper appreciation of a physician’s role and of the particularities of the specialty they are interested in. |
 Mission |
| 1. Gain deeper appreciation of a physician’s role in a given context, whether clinical or research. |
| 2. Be able to explain the duties of a physician within a given discipline. |
| 3. Describe some of the major health care delivery issues within the context of the specific discipline. |
| 4. Develop a member of a health care team and gain a better understanding of team dynamics. |
| 5. Develop proactive learning strategies, and share with others in the medical profession. |
