Academic Plan

The Current Academic Plan for Pathology Department:

 1) Teaching and training of undergraduate medical students:

The pathology department staff members participate in all the relevant committees, in cooperation with the Department of Medical Education, and modify pathology courses in the curriculum of first and second years in line with the modified system of teaching, which included all the basic courses. The department staff members participate in teaching and training in the disciplines of pathology, microbiology, medical biochemistry, immunology, hematology and human genetics, as follows:

2)  Teaching, training and supervision of postgraduate students:

A) King Saud University Fellowship in Pathology:

The department of Pathology provides the King Saud University Fellowship Program in pathology to the medical graduates in four fields as follows:

1 – Histopathology.
2 - Medical Microbiology.
3 - Hematology.
4 – Medical Biochemistry.

The duration of this program is five-years in which the enrolled candidate should be full-time studying. In addition to the faculty members of the department, consultants from each of the following hospitals participate in implementing this program:

- King Faisal Specialist Hospital in Riyadh.
- The military hospital in Riyadh.
- King Fahd Hospital for the National Guard in Riyadh.

B) The department teaching staff participate in teaching other fellowship programs as follows:
- King Saud University Fellowship in Ophthalmology .
- Diploma and Fellowship of ENT.
- Master of Health Care.
- Master of Dentistry.
- Diploma of psychiatric and neurological diseases.
- Arabic Fellowship in Surgery and Medicine.
- Master of Clinical Laboratory, Faculty of Applied Medical Sciences.
- Supervision of Masters in the medical field from other colleges.

The department of pathology participates regularly, through the clinical laboratories, in the training of resident physicians, Interns and graduates of the College of Medicine as well as graduates of the College of Applied Medical Sciences and College of Science during their training rotations in the University laboratories.
