البحث العلمي: 
في قسم علوم القلب، برز مسار نوعي يتمثل في علوم القلب الأساسية القائمة على البحث العلمي، ليكون ركيزة لتعزيز الابتكار وفهم أمراض القلب من منظور خلوي وجزيئي، وربط الاكتشافات العلمية بالتطبيقات السريرية. 
وتعمل وحدة علوم القلب الأساسية على تطوير أبحاث متعددة التخصصات في مجالات الخلايا الجذعية، وأمراض القلب الوراثية والجينية، وهندسة الأنسجة، وآليات نشوء وتطور الأمراض، والاستراتيجيات العلاجية الحديثة، مع توظيف التقنيات المتقدمة وتعزيز التعاون البحثي بما يدعم الأبحاث الانتقالية ويُسهم في تطوير التشخيص والعلاج وتحسين رعاية المرضى. 
كما انضم إلى القسم نخبة من الباحثين والأكاديميين الحاصلين على الدكتوراه في مجالات البحث الطبي والحيوي من إمبيريال كوليج لندن، لإثراء البيئة الأكاديمية والبحثية وتعزيز حضور القسم في المجتمع الطبي والبحثي محليًا وعالميًا.
