The Department of Pathology at the College of Medicine, King Saud University, the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Centre, and the Department of Pathology, Riyadh Armed Forces Hospital, have initiated a joint collaborative postgraduate training programme in Pathology. The three institutions have agreed on a broad spectrum of collaboration in order to provide a first rate education for residents. The resources available in these tree institutions with regard to staffs, equipments and specimens will be utilized for the training programme.
The programme is intended to provided well trained General and Special Pathologists for the larger number of medical laboratories in hospitals and clinics throughout the Kingdom. A committee with representatives from the three institutions entitled “ the Joint Pathology Fellowship Committee” will supervise the overall implementation of the programme.
The training programme is structured to provide a good balance of the technical and theoretical aspects of pathology and the interpretative skills, investigation and management inherent in the modern practice of laboratory medicine.
A certificate entitled “Fellowship” in pathology will be awarded by King Saud University to those successfully completing the programme that requires a period of 5 years full time postgraduate training a nd education.
