Research Areas:
The Department is research intensive. The faculty members use cell and molecular biological approaches to address questions in the areas of cell & developmental biology and the biology of the cardiovascular & nervous systems. A common thread among many faculty research programs is in addressing how cells respond to environmental stresses. The overall research enterprise of the Department covers a wide range of topics that examine basic cellular processes such as chromatin remodeling, neural regeneration, tissue development, gene expression and cellular growth and differentiation.
