INTRODUCTION:

Assessment drives learning and it’s an integral component of learning process. Students’ assessment and evaluation for various domains of cognitive and psychomotor skills with provision of continuous and constructive feedback is required for any educational process. In order to meet this challenge, the Department of Medical Education at King Saud University has established a fully operational centralized Assessment & Evaluation Centre (AEC) in 1431H. The Centre is solely responsible for the Assessment and Evaluation of the Phase II (Pre-Clinical years), Phase III and IV (Clinical years) students of the College of Medicine, King Saud University (KSU) under the privileged supervision of Vice-Dean for Academic Affairs.

VISION:

To provide integrated assessment and evaluation support in ways that will continuously improve the College of Medicine and Health Colleges’ assessment and evaluation systems at KSU and to become internationally recognized test centre.

MISSION:

To provide valid and reliable assessment and evaluation support through the most appropriate assessment materials to the College of Medicine and Health Colleges at KSU. Also analyzing the examination materials as well as giving feedback to the students and faculty to improve the standard of the assessment system. AEC conducts the research in the field of assessment to improve it to the highest standards.

OBJECTIVES:

• Provision of support in creation of assessment materials and conduction of different examinations
• Providing the support in preparation of results
• Analyzing the results
• Preparing the examination feedback
• Constructing and maintaining question bank
• Organizing training workshops/courses for faculty
• Conducting the research in the field of assessment
